Celtic moved within two points of second-placed Glasgow City from a game more, following a 2-0 defeat of Hearts. The Hoops took a fifth-minute lead against Hearts, Caitlin Hayes heading home for a corner. But it was seven minutes from time when Shen Mengyu finally got Celtic’s second.
Partick Thistle were held 2-2 at home by Spartans but it was enough to lift them above Hearts into eighth spot. Becky Gabraith scored for the visitors in the first minute and earned a point with a 73rd-minute penalty, Rachel Donaldson and Linzi Taylor having netted in-between for the Jags.
Dundee United hit Kilmarnock 6-1 to extend their lead in SWPL2 to a dozen points, as Glasgow Women went down to Fern Newbigging’s goal for St Johnstone who rose to fourth. Danni McGinley bagged a brace for United, her second one of three goals around the interval.
Boroughmuir Thistle beat Queen’s Park 4-0 to close the gap on Glasgow Women, Samantha Duncan hitting a hat-trick.
