Celtic moved level on points with second-placed Hibernian in the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League, while Hearts got one hand on the SWPL 2 title.

Celtic are level on points with second-placed Hibernian with a game to go each after a 5-1 victory at Spartans.

Sarah Ewens hit a hat-trick in her side’s fifth straight win, Kelly Clark and Josephoine Giard were also on target, while Caley Gibb had scored for the hosts to halve the arrears on 49 minutes.

The Hoops are well behind Hibs on goal-difference and go to Stitling University for a noon start next Sunday, while Hibernian visit Forfar Farmington for a 1pm kick off.

SWPL 2 leaders Hearts hammered Hutchison Vale 14-1 to leave themselves only needing a point at home to Partick Thistle at Tynecastle Park on 17 November to seal the title. Rachel Walkingshaw and Danni McGinley each contributed a treble to the scoreline.

Hamilton Academical have to hope for a big favour from Thistle and also take maximum points themselves at FC Kilmarnock.

Partick missed a chance to take a real advantage in the battle for third spot, which is still between four teams including Dundee United, who defeated The Jags 2-0 on their own patch. Neve Guthrie’s goal was added to in stoppage-time by Steffi Simson.
