The new FA Women’s Championship campaign gets underway on 29 August, with promoted Sunderland and Watford both on their travels.
FAWC: Sunday 29 August (2pm)
Blackburn Rovers v Sheffield United (Bamber Bridge FC)
Coventry United v Sunderland (Butts Park Arena)
Crystal Palace v Bristol City (Bromley FC) – live on The FA Player
Durham v Watford (Maiden Castle, 12:00)
Lewes P-P Charlton Athletic
Liverpool v London City Lionesses (Tranmere Rovers FC) – live on LFCTV
The Black Cats and Hornets return to the second tier with trips to Coventry United and Durham respectively, the latter with a noon start. Coventry have signed the Championship’s top scorer from last season in Katie Wilkinson, while Durham are aiming to go one better than the runners-up spot they achieved last term.
Crystal Palace host Bristol City with both sides having made a host of new signings, with the relegated R0bins placing Lauren Smith in charge.
Liverpool have added the likes of Megan Campbell, Leanne Kiernan and Rianna Dean, as returning manager Matt Beard looks to take the Reds back up to the WSL. Their first obstacle is London City Lionesses, whose squad sees ten newcomers to that which finished sixth last time round.
Blackburn Rovers take on Sheffield United, who have added plenty of international experience in Jess Clarke and new captain Sophie Bradley-Auckland.
The Lewes versus Charlton Athletic match has been postponed due to positive Covid tests in the Addicks camp.
