Republic of Ireland Women went down to a second international friendly defeat in the double-header with Iceland.

Megan Connolly fired a shot wide early on, while half chances for the hosts were snuffed out by Louise Quinn in particular.

Amber Barrett hooked a left-footed shot wide from just inside the penalty area, Berglind Björg Þorvaldsdóttir then saw her effort dealt with by Courtney Brosnan, before Connolly’s long-range strike forced a save from Cecilia  Rúnarsdóttir.

Diane Caldwell charged down a Sveindís Jane Jónsdóttir shot but poor defending later let in Þorvaldsdóttir to poke the ball past Brosnan.

Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir’s spectacular strike then gave the home side a 2-0 victory.
