Manchester United cut Tottenham Hotspur’s lead in the FA Women’s Championship, while Aston Villa secured a first win of the campaign against Millwall Lionesses.

Man Utd end Spurs’ perfect start
Manchester United became the first to take points off Tottenham Hotspur, sending them to a 4-1 defeat and thereby cutting their lead to two points.
The Reds took a 10th minute lead against the leaders, with a goal from Lauren James following a run by Jess Sigsworth.
Sigsworth herself doubled the advantage with a tap in inside the 20-minute mark, James having turned provider with the cross.
Four minutes before the break and it was 3-0, Sigsworth on target again but this time with a header from a Katie Zelem free kick.
Chloe Morgan pulled off a few saves for Spurs in the second half but Charlie Devlin made it 4-0 with a good turn and finish.
Angela Addison header a corner past Siobhan Chamberlain for a consolation and the first goal that United have conceded this season in the league.
Addicks defeat Bees with first-half double
Charlton Athletic scored 3 minutes from the start and 3 minutes before half time in beating London Bees 2-0.
The Addicks took just 3 minutes to go ahead, Gemma Bryan winning a free kick which was saved by Sarah Quantrill, only for Liz Ejupi to slide home the rebound.
Grace Coombs volleyed against the Bees’ woodwork before Charlton keeper Katie Startup fumbled an Emma Beckett free kick into Destiney Toussaint’s path but her shot went narrowly over.
Startup made a point-blank stop to prevent Connie Forman levelling, just before Bryan got the Addicks’ second from the penalty spot.
Quickfire Cottam treble seals Wildcats win
Unbeaten Durham sealed three more points against Lewes by the interval, scoring all five goals in the first 33 minutes.
The Wildcats struck twice in as many minutes, Beth Hepple’s corner met at the back post by Becky Salicki on 18 minutes and then Emily Roberts squared for Zoe Ness to fire home.
Abi Cottam then in weighed in decisively with an 11-minute hat-trick, lobbing from Salicki’s free-kick, before a second assist from Roberts and then nodding in Abi Holmes’ delivery.
Villa record first victory
Aston Villa claimed a first win off the season with a 2-0 success over lowly Millwall Lionesses.
Villa went ahead on 28 minutes after Millwall were opened up at the back and Kerri Walsh headed home.
The hosts were soon denied by an offside decision, before Chloe Sansom kept the ball out with a fine save.
However, 5 minutes after the restart Amy West’s looping effort from outside the box found the far corner of the net.
Bex bags later winner for Blades
Bex Rayner scored the only goal of the game 7 minutes from time, as Sheffield United edged Leicester City WFC 1-0 at the Olympic Legacy Park, rising to sixth in the table.
Ellie Gilliat skimmed the post with a powerful strike for the Blades after going past a few defenders and Beth Merrick put a close-range effort over the Foxes’ bar.
Merrick went closer still when Demi Lambourne turned her shot onto the post and the loose ball was cleared off the line.
Merrick then hit the bar from a Sheffield free kick and Rayner’s decider came with some good fortune for the home side, her deflected cross looping over Lambourne and in.
