In a re-match of the EURO 2017 final, the Netherlands defeated Denmark 4-1 on aggregate, while Switzerland edged out Belgium on away goals after a 3-3 tie over the two legs.

The Dutch took a 2-0 lead to Viborg thanks to goals by Lineth Beerensteyn and Shanice van de Sanden, with the former scoring twice more to seal their progress.

Manchester City’s Nadia Nadim netted an early penalty for the Danes but Beerensteyn soon levelled on the night and added a late second for a 2-1 away win.

Switzerland had been indebted to West Ham’s Alisha Lehmann, who came off the bench to equalise twice in a 2-2 first leg tie in Leuven. Janice Cayman and Laura Deneve had put the Red Flames in front, Lehmann’s second leveller came with only 3 minutes to go.

The second leg in Biel score the Swiss go ahead through Géraldine Reuteler midway through the first half.  Tine De Caigny equalised with 13 minutes left but Belgium’s wait for a first Women’s World Cup appearance continues.

The Dutch and Swiss will now clash twice between 5 and 13 November, with the finals draw set of 5pm (UK time) 8 December.
