Over 1,000 turned out to see Aston Villa take on Manchester United but it turned out that there was only one team in it on the day, with Jess Sigsworth scoring five for the visitors.
Sixteen-year-old Lauren James turned in the box to tuck the opening goal inside the near post with less than 10 minutes played.
James struck her second from 20 yards midway through the half, which began a tough spell for Villa who conceded four times in 10 minutes, as Jess Sigsworth scored either side of a Katie Zelem penalty.
Sigsworth completed her hat-trick before the break and notched her fourth soon after the restart, with Kirsty Hanson then scoring twice in quick succession.
Sigsworth fifth was United’s tenth with still half an hour to play and although Jodie Hutton’s strike had to be tipped over by Siobhan Chamberlain, the visitors swiftly made it 11-0 through Mollie Green and Ella Toone rounded off the rout.
Spurs fight back to beat Bees
Tottenham Hotspur struck twice in the final 20 minutes to overcome a one-goal deficit against visitors London Bees.
Ashleigh Neville went close with a couple of headers for Spurs but in was London Bees who opened the scoring on 21 minutes, when Paula Howells’ corner flew straight in at the far post.
Tottenham were back on level terms with 20 minutes to go, Jess Naz winning a penalty and Coral-Jade Haines converting before being substituted.
The home side had turned the game on its head in a five-minute spell, Josie Green winning possession and firing home.
Foxes foil Eagles
Leicester City WFC got a goal in each half to kick off with a 2-0 success away to Crystal Palace.
Eagles keeper Megan Lynch bravely blocked Sophie Domingo’s one-on-one effort, before tipping her second attempt away from goal.
The hosts nearly had the lead when Mackenzie’s well-timed header from a Ciara Watling corner rattled the crossbar but they fell behind on 18 minutes.
Melissa Johnson cut in from the left and was allowed space to run into the box and strike the ball into the far corner from a tight angle.
Palace might have been level at the start of the second period but Kallie Balfour’s fierce volley was deflected over the top.
Johnson got through on goal only to have Walsh tip the City striker’s effort wide but the Foxes second goal did arrive in the 75th minute.
Holly Morgan headed home at the back post after Charlotte Greengrass had knocked a deep free kick back across goal.
Three-goal Lewes defeat Lionesses
Lewes scored three first-half goals on the way to three points away at Millwall Lionesses.
Lewes were in front in only 3 minutes, the ball judged to have crossed the line despite a desperate effort to keep out Sammy Quayle’s header from the corner kick.
The Rookettes doubled the advantage on 24 minutes through Rebecca Carter, who beat her marker before firing home.
Danielle Lane headed against the Lionesses’ bar on the half hour but Lewes did get their third goal in first-half stoppage-time, Quayle setting up Avilla Bergin to score.
