Wales pick experienced squad for U-19 Elite Round

Wales U-19’s squad playing in next week’s UEFA Elite Round will feature eight players with senior caps, as they aim to qualify for the European Championship finals, reports faw.cymru.

The squad reached the Elite Round after finishing third in their qualifying group last year.

Wales will face hosts Portugal, Serbia and Denmark in the Elite Round. The winner of the group will go through to the last knockout stages which take place in Switzerland in July.

After being part of the senior squad in this year’s Cyprus Cup; Amina Vine, Gwen Davies, Ellie Lake and Chloe Chivers will be part of the U-19 squad.

Alice Griffiths and Elise Hughes will join up with the squad after the senior team’s match against England.

Manager Jayne Ludlow will be away with the senior squad who face England at the same time, but coach Kat Lovett will be in charge during the tournament.
