Jessica Samuelsson, an experienced 25-year-old right back who won a silver medal in the 2016 Olympics, has joined Arsenal from Linkopings.

Following a loan move to Melbourne Victory for the 2013 winter season, she was named as the league’s Player of the Year.

Speaking after signing her contract, Jessica told arsenal.com: “I’m so happy to join the club and to be a part of such a great club as Arsenal. I’m really excited for the season to start and to play my first game in the Arsenal shirt.
This is a new step in my career and I hope to make progress as a player. I’m going to do everything that I can to help Arsenal win titles.”

Manager Pedro Martinez Losa said: “We are delighted to welcome Jessica to Arsenal. I’ve been impressed with her performances for a long time now, so there was no doubt that she would make a huge impact in the Women’s Euro tournament this summer.

“She is recognised internationally as a strong and talented defender who will bring so much to our squad.”
