Manchester City fell to Chelsea in the League Cup this week but Andree Jeglertz still feels his team are in a good place to go on and win the WSL this season.
The Cityzens still hold a six point lead in the WSL but Chelsea are breathing down their necks.
Manchester City still in a good place
Losing to Chelsea on Wednesday night was disappointing, but not the end of the world for Manchester City.
Andree Jeglertz’ team are still on track to win the WSL this season and they control their own destiny atop the table.
Speaking after the Chelsea defeat, Jeglertz insisted that his side are still in a good place and the loss wasn’t too detrimental to their title hopes.
“A confident team is something that’s built for a long time and we have done that now over many games in the league and in the different cups, so I think we’re in a very good place,” Jeglertz said.
City face London City Lionesses this weekend as they look to continue a 10-game winning streak in the league.
The league leaders will also be hoping Chelsea drop points to Arsenal on Saturday in a weekend that could swing the league.
Forgiving fixture schedule for City
City have one of the most forgiving fixture schedules in the run in.
Andree Jeglertz and co. will get the tougher games out of the way early on ahead of a fairly straightforward conclusion to the campaign.
After a trip to London City Lionesses this weekend, City face Chelsea and Arsenal in back to back games that could win or lose them the league.

In their last seven WSL games the league leaders only face one of the top four – with the Manchester derby coming up at the end of March.
City’s last two games of the campaign are against Liverpool and West Ham. Playing both of the relegation-threatened sides at the end of the season is an advantage for City, who will feel confident on picking up six points to close out the year.
Despite Chelsea’s confidence in catching up to City, it would be a real surprise if the Blues could come back and win a seventh consecutive title this season.
