York City won the delayed final of the 2019-20 North Riding FA Women’s Cup, after twice coming from behind against Redcar Town.

Behind in only the third minute to a Jess Round effort at the Mo Mowlam Memorial Stadium on Teesside, York’s Emma Hallowell rifled in the first equaliser from 30 yards.

Round restored the holders’ lead in the second half but a decisive dozen minutes saw Shannon Durkin level, Sophie Tinson convert a penalty and Nikki Brown net the fourth for a 4-2 victory.

York will be under new management for the 2020-21 campaign, with RAF Ladies head coach and Uefa A license candidate Chris Hamilton taking charge.

The Minsterbelles’ opening North East League Premier Division match on 27 September is again away to Redcar Town.
