Eighteen year-old forward Paige Sawyer was released by Bristol City last week but wasted no time in signing a one-year deal with Yeovil Town.
Sawyer was selected for the England Colleges National Squad in 2016 and got a call up to an England U-19 Development Camp, making 12 first team appearances for Bristol City along the way but only featured once in the Spring Series.
On joining the Lady Glovers, Sawyer told yeoviltownladies.com “After speaking with Jamie [Sherwood] on the ethos and passion of this club, I believe that it will help me develop as a player and achieve both my own and the clubs ambitions.
“I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my football career and look forward to the challenges ahead for the new season in a green and white shirt.”
Manager Jamie Sherwood said “Paige is a player I have known for a number of years. She was actually Katie’s [Wife of Jamie Sherwood] first mascot when she played for Bristol.
“Paige has an opportunity to further her development with us. She has had an excellent education and she brings with her a fresh desire, energy and willingness to the goal we will set out for her as an individual and us as a group.
