Scotland’s powerful start against Northern Ireland gave them a 4-1 victory in their opening UEFA Women’s U-17 European Championship qualifying group game.
The mini-tournament hosts struck four times in the first half-hour at Oriam National Performance Centre in Edinburgh.
Paige McAllister headed in a Monica Forsyth corner and Robyn McCafferty scored the second via another flag-kick, Rosie McQuillan added a swift brace with Forsyth assisting with both.
Cora Morgan got a goal back for the Irish with an impressive 25-yard strike 11 minutes from the end.
Scotland next play Montenegro at Oriam on Thursday (5.30pm), Northern Ireland face Italy earlier that afternoon at the same venue. Italy had to settle for a 2-0 victory over Montenegro today, despite registering 32 goal attempts.
