#WPWL: Port Talbot deny Aberystwyth Town at the death

Swansea City went four points clear in the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League, while Aberystwyth Town were denied a first point in stoppage-time.

Stacey John-Davies gave the Swans a 20th-minute lead at Abergavenny but it wasn’t until 9 minutes from the end that Tija Richardson sealed the win with their second goal.

Port Talbot had to come behind for a 2-1 win at basement side Aberystwyth. Tania Wylde’s opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Courteney Thomas after the hour mark and 5 minutes into added time Lauren Amour netted the dramatic winner.

Next Sunday (15 March) sees the semi finals of the FAW Women’s Cup, with Abergavenny up against Cardiff City FC at Merthyr Town FC (1pm KO) and North Wales League side Connah’s Quay Nomads tackling Swansea City at Llanidloes Town FC (2pm KO). There is also one rescheduled WPWL game as Aberystwyth entertain Cyncoed.
