#WPWL Cup: Away wins for Cardiff City FC and Cyncoed

Cardiff City FC and Cyncoed won away in the Welsh Premier Women’s League Cup group stage but a third tie was abandoned due to serious injury.

WPWL Cup Group Stage results – 15 Sept

Holders Cardiff Met had their tie at Aberystywth abandoned in the second half due to an injury to their midfielder Grace Come. Maddie Schupbach had got the only goal for Met just 5 minutes in.

Cyncoed got going with a 3-1 scoreline away at Briton Ferry, Alison Witts scoring her first three goal for the visitors. Her opener was soon cancelled out by Lowri Baker but Clare Daley set Witts up for her second on 27 minutes and she completed her treble with a long-range effort quarter of an hour from the end.

Cardiff City FC got their group fixtures underway with a 7-0 success at Llandudno, where Kate Jeremiah hit a hat-trick. Alana Murphy bagged a brace, Jasmine Simpson and Catherine Walsh one apiece.

Llanberis 2-6 Connah’s Quay Nomads
Newport City 0-5 Swansea University
Cardiff Bluebirds H/W Baglan

Connah’s Quay Nomads will face Pwllheli, Swansea University will be up against WPWL side Port Talbot Town and  Cardiff Bluebirds go to Barry Town United in the 1st Round of the Welsh Cup on 20 October.
