Cardiff Met now have a seven-point lead over Abergavenny – who have a game in hand – at the top of the WPWL after putting five goals past Rhyl.
Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League results for 13 Jan
Briton Ferry Llansawel 1-1 Port Talbot Town
Cardiff Met 5-0 Rhyl
Llandudno 1-2 Cyncoed
Swansea City 0-0 Cardiff City FC
Unbeaten Cardiff Met increased their chances of retaining the title with a 5-0 result over Rhyl. Madison Schupbach struck twice, with Robyn Pinder, Lauren Townsend and Naomi Clipston scoring one apiece.
Both Swansea City and Cardiff City FC missed the chance to go second in the table when playing out a goalless draw. Sarah Adams hit the post for the Swans, they had an 89th-minute goal chalked off for offside and Katy Hosford’s last-minute free kick was well saved by Ceryn Chamberlain.
Cyncoed leapfrogged Llandudno into sixth spot with a 2-1 away win over the North Wales side. Caitlin Bevan got both their goals, the second in the final minute, after the hosts had levelled.
Briton Ferry Llansawel got off the mark at the ninth attempt when holding Port Talbot Town 1-1, thanks to Renee Day’s late equaliser.
