Women’s Regional Leagues: Moneyfields promoted to FAWNL

Moneyfields won the Southern Women’s Regional League title to secure promotion to the FAWNL for the first time.

EASTERN – Cup semi-final for struggling Dunstable

Premier – Kings Lynn Town beat Bedford 4-1 to leapfrog them into third place but from one game more.

League Cup Q-Fs – AFC Dunstable may be bottom of the Premier but they eliminated Division 1 South leaders Herts Vipers 5-2. Wroxham went through 2-0 at Colney Heath, Wymondham Town knocked out Royston Town by the same scoreline.

League Plate Q-Fs – Three away wins saw Whittlesey Athletic’s Hannah Murphy get the only goal at East Bergholt United, Hutton put out Wootton Blue Cross Lionesses 2-0 and Leigh Ramblers get past Cambridge City DS 3-1.

EAST MIDLANDS – Spireites go top

Premier – Chesterfield routed hosts Rise park 13-1 to go top on goal-difference ahead of Northampton Town, who have two games in hand. Leah Cudone’s goal for the Cobblers was cancelled out by Loughborough Students’ Eve Sutcliffe and although the university side had substitute Heather Wearmouth sent off 21 minutes from timem they held on to draw 1-1. Notts County and Lincoln United also shared two goals, promotion-chasing Mansfield Town won 5-1 at Rotherham United.

1 North – Arnold Eagles won 2-0 at Sherwood to open up a six-point lead, Nottingham Trent University went second with a 5-1 defeat of Grimsby Borough and Notts County DS beat Cleethorpes Town 3-0.

1 South – Derby County Academy’s 2-0 result at Loughborough Foxes Vixens was their fifteenth straight win, Anstey Nomads were 5-1 winners at Oadby & Wigston with four from Carmelina Colangelo. Nottingham Forest DS’s 8-2 defeat of Coalville Town featured an Amber Bilous hat-trick, Thrapston Town took the points 3-1 at Peterborough United Reserves.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Hastings defeat leaders

Premier – Ashford Town (Middlesex) stayed top with a 6-1 win at New London Lionesses, Dartford edged Aylesford 3-2 and are second o goal-difference but from four game more. Fulham netted six at Whyteleafe, as did Worthing against Denham United, Dulwich Hamlet got the only goal away to Millwall Lionesses.

1 North –  Dulwich Hamlet Reserves leapfrogged Dorking Wanderers into third when defeating them 5-2, Hackney drew 1-1 with Sport London E Benfica.

1 South – Hastings United stepped up their title challenge when winning 4-2 at leaders AFC Acorns, Welling United had a narrow win over basement side Meridian with Emily Symonds getting the only goal.

League Trophy Q-F – Newhaven knocked out Division 1 North leaders Brentford 3-2 on penalties after a goalless ninety minutes.

NORTH EAST – Hull United on verge of promotion

Premier – Ossett United’s Alayna Millard scored twice in the 3-2 win at second-placed Harrogate Town, Wakefield Trinity’s Amelia Hunt got the winner in a 3-2 result at Hartlepool United, Wallsend BC  beat South Shields with a Hannah Travis goal and Sunderland West End had a walkover against Sheffield Wednesday.

1 North – Blyth Town’s 3-2 victory at Spennymoor Town moved them two points clear, as Wallsend BC Reserves held Boro Rangers 3-3. Chester le Street United’s Jade Fenton got a treble in the 9-1 result at Prudhoe Town, West Allotment Celtic’s Victoria Curtis was twice on target in a 4-2 defeat of Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, Washington beat Guisborough Town 2-1.

1 South –  Hull United need just one win in three to secure top spot after defeating third-placed Altofts 2-0. York RI kept up their slim hopes with an 8-1 scoreline against Millmoor.

NORTH WEST – Blackburn CSC unbeaten in 17 

Premier – Champions Merseyrail edged Crewe Alexandra 2-1, Cheadle Town Stingers won 2-1 at Mossley Hill Athletic as did AFC Darwen at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton, while Salford City Lionesses were 4-1 winners away to Wigan Athletic.

1 North – Blackburn CSC are unbeaten in 17 games after a 4-0 defeat of Sir Tom Finney, Blackpool scored two late goals in the 2-0 win over lowly Morecambe. Preston North End pipped hosts Penwortham Town 2-1, Haslingden did likewise at Workington Reds, Accrington Stanley beat Penrith 2-0 to leapfrog them into fifth place and Carlisle United climbed off the bottom with a 1-0 success against Chorley DS.

1 South – Basement side West Kirby were narrowly beaten 1-0 by leaders Curzon Ashton, Chester sent Alder to a 4-0 defeat, Warrington Wolves lost ground when held 1-1 at Wythenshawe Amateurs. Hindley h=just got the better of Altrincham 2-1, while Mersey Valley posted a 3-1 result over Northwich Vixens.

SOUTHERN – Moneyfields champions

Premier –  Moneyfields completed an unbeaten campaign by clinching the title 6-0 at Woodley United, the Portsmouth-based side moving out of the reach of Abingdon United. Winchester City Flyers’ Libby Wilkinson got a crucial brace in a 3-2 victory, as Chante Inniss hit two late goals for Wycombe Wanderers

Division 1 –  Chichester City went up to third with a 2-0 victory over Woking, Southampton Women’s Reserves scored twice in the latter stages for a 2-0 result against Abbey Rangers.

League Cup Q-F – Abingdon United eliminated Ascot United 3-2 to book a semi-final trip to Eastleigh next Sunday.

SOUTH WEST – Frome draw despite dismissal

Premier – Middlezoy Rovers beat Royal Wootton Bassett Town 4-1 as the pair completed their league fixtures.

1 East – Third drew 3-3 with second, Keynsham Town Reserves’ Fleur Jenkins getting all their goals against Warminster Town, Frome Town had substitute Alisha Stuart red-carded but the basement side still drew 0-0 with Chipping Sodbury Town

1 North – Weston Mendip gained a rare win as Charlotte Suktem struck twice for a 4-2 success at Bristol Ladies Union. Frampton Rangers saw off Oldland Abbotonians 3-1 and Weston Super Mare’s Katie Sharkey hit a hat-trick for a 4-4 tie at Cheltenham Town DS.

WEST MIDLANDS – Solihull Sporting go clear

Premier – Lichfield City beat Lye Town 3-0 with the help of an Alicia Bailes brace, Sutton Coldfield Town defeated Redditch United by the same score as Niamh Deasy netted two goals in as many minutes, Stourbridge were 4-1 winners at Worcester City, Crusaders’ Hannah Vincent got the sole goal of the game at Tamworth.

1 North – Shrewsbury Town’s Vikki Owen got three goals in the first 28 minutes during a 5-0 win at Darlaston Town, Sandwell are up to second after coming from behind at Shifnal Town where Marsha Malik 81st-minute goal gave a 2-1 win. Walsall Wood walloped Wyrley 13-1, Rosie Hargreaves notching a double hat-trick.

1 South – Solihull Sporting hit Rugby Town 6-1 to go two points clear, as Demi-Lee Rolph was at the double as Knowle drew 2-2 with Sedgley & Gornal United. Kingfisher’s Katie Edwards got a couple for a 2-0 result at Leamington Lions, Rugby Borough went above Cookley Sports against whom Danielle Statham scored the only goal.
