Women’s Regional Leagues: Acorns, Anstey and Blackpool Ladies go top

AFC Acorns, Anstey Nomads and Blackpool all went top in their respective Women’s Regional Leagues divisions.

EASTERN – Whittlesey win cup tie 7-5

Premier – Wymondham Town went eight points clear at the top as Laura Nicholls notched a double in a 3-2 victory over Bedford. Kings Lynn Town’s narrow 3-2 win at Haringey Borough lifted them to third, Colney Heath are fifth following a 2-1 result at AFC Dunstable.

League Cup – Two goalfests saw Whittlesey Athletic win 7-5 against Leigh Ramblers with the aid of a Chelsea Burr treble and Cheshunt’s Frances Gamble struck twice as they progressed 5-4 at East Bergholt United. Barking just got the better of Cambridge City DS 3-2, Herts Vipers put five past Wodson Park and Needham Market sank Hutton 7-1.

EAST MIDLANDS – Nomads get ahead of Rams

Premier – Notts County pipped Loughborough Students 3-2 to go fifth, substitute Lashea Francis with a last-minute winner. Rise Park and Leicester City Ladies both remain without a win after their match was abandoned.

1 North – Arnold Eagles verus Sherwood was another game not to go the distance.

1 South – Anstey Nomads ran out 7-1 winners at Peterborough United Reserves to take top spot from Derby County Academy, Carmelina Colangelo scoring four goals and Kayleigh Needham their other three. Loughborough Foxes Vixens fixture with Ilkeston Town was halted due to the snow.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Acorns advance into pole position

Premier – Dartford climbed to second after netting nine past Whyteleafe, Millwall Lionesses went fourth despite being held 3-3 at home by Aylesford whose Beth Hulme bagged a brace. Dulwich Hamlet ran out 5-0 winners at Denham United and Worthing got the only goal of the game with Saltdean United.

1 North – Sutton United leapt up to third with a 5-3 victory at Walton Casuals, Hackney defeated Clapham United 3-0 with Natalie White twice on target.

1 South – AFC Acorns’ Samantha Rowland scored three times in a 4-2 result over Herne Bay which sent them top. Welling United stunned second-placed Ashford Ladies 5-1, even though it was first-half stoppage-time when Grace Laverick got their opener. Hastings United are now second having defeated Newhaven 2-0, Bexhill United beat Parkwood Rangers 3-0 to leapfrog them in the table and Maidstone United are off the mark with Abigail Skilton at the double in a 2-1 win at Meridian.

League Cup – Sport London E Benfica were 3-1 victors over Watford DS.

NORTH EAST – West Allotment miss chance to top table

1 North – Bishop Auckland recovered from two down at the break to hold West Allotment Celtic 3-3. Emma Wright scored twice for the hosts following Kate Brooks’ double the visitors, who are now one of three sides within a point of leaders Boro Rangers.

NORTH WEST – Ten-goal Blackpool take over at top

Premier – Merseyrail opened up a six-point lead with the 2-0 defeat of West Didsbury & Chorlton, while Morecambe got off the mark with a 3-3 draw against Mossley Hill Athletic.

1 North – Blackpool’s Aimee Shaw struck three times in the first 17 minutes on her way to a five-goal haul in the 10-0 result over Sir Tom Finney, which sent the Seasiders back into top spot. Penwortham Town went fifth with a 2-1 win against Accrington Stanley.

1 South – Leaders Chester had their fixture with Hindley abandoned in the first half due to heavy snowfall.

SOUTHERN – Moneyfields win title ‘six-pointer’

Premier – Moneyfields won the top of the table clash with Abingdon United 2-1 to extend their lead to four points. Third-placed Abingdon Town beat Ascot United 2-0, as did Wycombe Wanderers over Woodley United with a Ruby Paish brace. Winchester City Flyers’ Hannah Chaffey and Katie Johns got a couple each in a 5-3 victory at Oxford City which lifted them above their hosts.

Division 1 – Bournemouth Sports’ substitute Ayuma Asira scored in the 1-1 tie with leaders AFC Bournemouth DS, while AFC Stoneham moved second with a 5-0 win over Woking. Chichester City sent Eversley & California to a 4-1 reverse, Milton United claimed a first win with a similar scoreline against Abbey Rangers.

SOUTH WEST – Boco check Chipping Sodbury run

Premier – Sherborne Town’s Gemma Mountain got four goals as the leaders netted nine at Bideford, Forest Green Rovers were 5-3 winners at Royal Wootton Bassett Town where Ella Hitchcox and Hattie Jones got two goals each,
Torquay United were held 1-1 by Bishops Lydeard.

1 East – AEK Boco became the first side to take points of third-placed Chipping Sodbury Town, whom they held 1-1 with a Jessica Titcomb goal.

1 North – Bristol Rovers put nine past second-placed Frampton Rangers with Annys Turner contributing a hat-trick, to make it ten straight wins for the Gas Girls. Almondsbury were 2-1 winners over Cheltenham Town DS.

1 West – Liverton United downed top team Plymouth Argyle U-23s 2-0 with efforts from Chloe Driscoll Helena Ruffles, Feniton finished 5-3 up against Saltash United.

WEST MIDLANDS – Worcester up four places

Premier – Jessica Rew found the net three times as Worcester City jumped four places to fifth with a 5-2 success against Coundon Court, whom they had sat beneath at kick-off.

1 South – Solihull Sporting strode clear with a 14-0 crushing of fourth-placed Kingfisher, as Lauren Smith struck six times. Cookley Sports’ Lauren Thompson notched a ten-minute double in a 2-2 draw at Rugby Borough, Westfields had a walkover in the scheduled game with Droitwich Spa.
