The North East Women’s Regional League began on Sunday and two fixtures provided huge drama, totalling 16 goals, and three red cards in a minute.
EASTERN – Wymondham take winning run to third game
PREMIER – Wymondham Town’s third straight win saw them come from behind to beat Colney Heath, St Ives Town won by a similar score at AFC Dunstable, as did Peterborough Northern Star over Bowers & Pitsea. Harlow Town went one better against Royston Town, Haringey Borough enjoyed a rare victory 4-2 versus Bedford, while Luton Town edged Wroxham 2-1.
1 NORTH – Newmarket Town lost top spot as they had Dominika Szary sent off in losing 7-3 at home to Cambridge City Development.
1 SOUTH – Hutton head the table having edged a nine-goal thriller at Millwall Lionesses, Wodson Park also won a second time 2-1 over East Bergholt United, while AFC Sudbury were 5-0 winners against Stevenage Development.
EAST MIDLANDS – Peterborough United hit six in opener
PREMIER – Peterborough United are initial leaders after hitting hosts Ollerton Town for six, Northampton Town saw off Rise Park 3-0 despite a red card for Fay Noble. Rotherham United ran out 5-2 victors over Mansfield Town, Kettering Town claimed a 5-1 result at Leicester City Ladies and Loughborough Students beat Woodlands 4-2.
1 NORTH – Chesterfield and Grimsby Town began with 6-1 scorelines, the former against Arnold Eagles, the later over Sherwood and featuring a 17-munute hat-trick by Sophie Bell. SJR Worksop super-sub Sophie Vickers scored in a 2-1 win at Cleethorpes Town, Lincoln Moorlands-Railway netted the points 3-2 over Notts County Development, Grimsby Borough got all three goals in the game with Sleaford Town.
1 SOUTH – Beaumont Park began by beating AFC Leicester 4-1, Notts County came away from Ilkeston Town with three goals and three points, Oadby & Wigston defeated Derby County Academy 2-0 as Lucy Phillips-Poole came off the bench to secure the result, while Coalville Town Ravenettes drew 1-1 with Thrapston Town.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Trio extend 100% records
PREMIER – Dulwich Hamlet, Saltdean United and Dartford are all on maximum points from two ganes, winning 3-0 at QPR, 4-1 over Fulham and 2-1 at Denham United respectively. Ashford Town (Middlesex) scored twice in the last quarter to edge Eastbourne Town 3-2, Aylesford winning 2-1 over Whyteleafe.
1 NORTH – Hackney have back-to-back wins after narrow 3-2 defeat of Victoire, New London Lionesses were 5-0 winners at Watford Development, Clapham United just got the better of Phoenix Sports 2-1.
1 SOUTH – Herne Bay took over from Worthing at the top, beating them 3-2 thanks to sub Sophie Gifford’s goal two minutes from time. Lewes Foundation overcame hosts Crawley Wasps DS 4-1, Parkwood Rangers netted four without reply at Hassocks, Newhaven had Chelsea Cook red-carded as they went down 3-1 at home to Ashford Ladies.
NORTH EAST LEAGUE – Lumley fightback from 4-1 down to win
PREMIER – York City are first to head the league after a 5-1 success at Redcar Town, Hartlepool United sank South Shields 4-1, Alnwick Town kicked off with a 4-2 victory at Farsley Celtic, but there were eight goals in the draw between Harrogate Town and Wallsend BC.
1 NORTH – Two games provided more than enough drama for the whole league. Firstly, Boro Rangers’ Larissa Burkinshaw bagged a brace but had to hold on for a 4-3 win over Washington, the hosts having Rachel Jackson and Lily Metcalfe sent off on 74 minutes along with the visitors Courtney Clark. Secondly, Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves raced into a 4-1 led in 25 minutes as Sacha Millward struck a treble, but it was all in vain as Lumley launched an amazing fightback to take the game 5-4 with Jamie Sugden’s 85th-minute decider. Elsewhere, Sunderland West End’s Isla Maggs got a four-goal haul in a 6-1 result at Chester le Street Town Development, West Allotment Celtic won against Prudhoe Town with a Faye Jardine brace.
1 SOUTH – No lack of goals here either, led by Wakefield Trinity’s 13-1 score at Harrogate Town Development, where Emily Heckler hit five, Chelsea Pilmer three. Farsley Celtic Juniors mowed down York Railway Institute 9-3 with four for Jasmine Cooper and three from Sarah Lawn, Emily Scott also claimed a hat-trick as Altofts stormed to an 8-2 victory at Bradford Park Avenue, Millmoor got all five goals at Hepworth United.

PREMIER – Marine Academy Plymouth thrashed Torquay United 11-1 as Bethany Everson and Isabel Scott each recorded a treble, second win also for Ilminster Town 2-0 over Wootton Bassett Town. Bideford beat Callington Town by the same score, Portishead put five past hosts Middlezoy.
1 EASTERN – Forest Green Rovers have nine pointe from three games after Beth Edwards’ treble in a 5-1 win at Chipping Sodbury Town. Swindon Town Development had a 2-0 derby win at Supermarine, Laverstock & Ford shot down Swindon Spitfires 8-0, AEK Boco and Frome Town tied 2-2.
1 NORTHERN – Bristol Ladies Union have won all three games to date following a 5-1 defeat of Downend Flyers, in which Stella Gandee Morgan scored three of four second-half goals. Almondsbury forced a 3-1 result at Frampton Rangers, Oldland Abbotonians did likewise over Weston Super Mare, while it finished 2-2 between Weston Mendip and Cheltenham Town Development.
1 WESTERN – Alphington lead the table on goal scored, winning 4-2 at plym outh Argye Reserves even though Abigail Harris was dismissed. Feniton pipped Plympton 6-5 with the aid of a Stefanie Churchill-Matthews double and despite Shannon Workman’s hat-trick for the visitors. Sherborne Town’s Olivia Watts was on target three times a 5-0 win at Pen Mill, AFC St Austell’s 6-0 score against St Agnes saw Charlotte Whitmore net four.
WEST MIDLANDS – Lockett’s leveller keeps Leek in the lead
PREMIER – Leek Town dropped their first points when held 1-1 at home by Redditch United, substitute Michaela Lockett scoring to rescue a draw. Solihull United moved within a point of the leaders after a 3-2 win against Sphinx, Hayley Wilford scoring twice in as many minutes and Dion Germaine was dismissed for the Coventry side. City of Stoke won 3-1 at Lye Town, Coundon Court 2-0 away to Stockingford A A Pavilion.
1 NORTH – Stoke City Development took over at the top from Shrewsbury Town whom they downed 4-1, Shifnal Town’s Jenna Boddison and Rebecca-Lee Bown got three apiece as they hit Coventry City 6-2. AFC Telford won 6-3 at Sandwell, Tamworth 3-0 at Port Vale, while Wyrley walloped Walsall 8-1.
1 SOUTH – Kidderminster Harriers made a flying start in sending Sedgley & Gornal United to a 11-0 defeat, with Danielle Selmes scoring four. Leamington Lions lead after a 3-0 win at Rugby Town, Knowle reproduced that score against Droitwich Spa, Kingfisher condemned Cookley Sports to a 2-0 defeat.
