Women’s Regional League Round-Up: Plymouth Argyle U-23s net 30

Goalscoring achievements in the Women’s Regional Leagues featured 30 by Plymouth Argyle U-23s and all six Redcar Town goals from Jess Round.

EASTERN – Royston end Wymondham’s winning run

Premier – Royston Town ended Wymondham Town’s winning start with Emma Slater’s double giving a 2-1 success. Colney Heath came away from St Ives Town 4-0 winners, Bedford beat Kings Lynn Town 4-1, Luton Town claimed a first win 5-2 at Haringey Borough and it was goalless between AFC Dunstable and Bowers & Pitsea.

1 North – Needham Market went top after a 5-2 victory over Cambridge City DS.

1 South – Cheshunt are up to second after holding leaders Herts Vipers to a 2-2 draw.

EAST MIDLANDS – Nine-minute hat-trick for Eagles’ Leach

Premier – Northampton Town put seven past hosts Rise Park to lead the table with a 100% record. Chesterfield edged Lincoln United 2-1, Beth Smyth goal from outside the area was cancelled out as Chloe Brock-Taylor netted rom at least 30 yards, but Georgina Williams scored the winner. Oughtibridge WM defeated Notts County 3-0, while Woodlands went down 5-2 at home to Loughborough Students.

1 North – Arnold Eagles and Grimsby Town made it two wins from two, a nine-minute hat-trick from Natasha Leach helped Eagles to a 4-2 scoreline at SJR Worksop, the Mariners netted twice without reply at Sherwood. Notts County DS drew 1-1 with Nottingham Trent University, Sleaford Town edged Grimsby Borough 2-1.

1 South – Derby County Academy and Oadby & Wigston made it back-to-back victories, the Rams 3-1 at Anstey Nomads, Freya Gardner getting a hat-trick in a 6-1 sinking by Oadby of Leicester Road. Thrapston Town won 4-2 at Ilkeston Town, Kettering Town 5-1 at Peterborough United Reserves and Nottingham Forest DS defeated Loughborough Foxes Vixens 1-0 courtesy of Jessica Abdy’s goal.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Ashford Town take the points in top two clash

Premier – Ashley Cheatley completed her hat-trick five minutes from full time, as Ashford Town (Middlesex) made it five straight wins with a 3-2 result at second-placed Dartford. Worthing had six different scorers in a 6-1 defeat of Aylesford, New London won 4-0 at Millwall in the Lionesses derby, Denham United defeated Whyteleafe 2-1 and Fulham drew 1-1 with Saltdean United.

1 North – Sutton United hit Hackney 5-0 for a third win on the trot, Brentford won 6-1 at Victoire in a match of five bookings, while Sport London E Benfica were 4-1 winners at Clapham United.

1 South – Hastings United went top with a 2-0 result at Parkwood Rangers with a brace by Claire Johnson, Ashford LFC having lost out 3-2 at AFC Acorns. Welling United won 5-2 at Meridian with three second-half goals and a Samantha Rowland treble, whereas Herne Bay scored a dozen at Bexhill United.

NORTH EAST – Round scores all six for Redcar

PREMIER – Sunderland West End stayed top after a narrow 3-2 win over South Shields, Alexandra Ross getting two of their goals. Redcar Town enjoyed a 6-2 result at Wallsend BC, especially Jess Round who netted all six. Wakefield Trinity won 6-1 against Sheffield Wednesday with four goals coming after half-time, Farsley Celtic WFC saw off Hartlepool United 4-2 and it finished 1-1 between York City and Ossett United.

1 NORTH – Spennymoor Town and Blyth Town have both won their opening two games, 8-1 over Guisborough Town with an Autumn Colledge hat-trick and 3-0 at West Allotment Celtic with a Steph Ord double respectively. Bishop Auckland beat Boro Rangers 2-1 with Rebecca Lowes striking twice in the opening 13 minutes, Prudhoe Town’s Ashleigh Rea got the only goal to defeat Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, Wallsend BC Reserves won 5-2 at Washington.

1 SOUTH – Back-to-back wins also for York Railway Institute and Wakefield Trinity U-23s, the former 6-3 against Farsley Celtic Juniors despite a 2-2 half-time score, the later 8-2 at Hepworth United. Altofts put twelve past Bradford Park Avenue, with four-apiece for Emily Scott and Nicola Smith.

NORTH WEST – Penrith and Warrington new leaders

Premier – Tranmere Rovers won 5-2 at Wigan Athletic for a third win on the spin, Merseyrail matched that when defeating Mossley Hill 3-0 and Crewe Alexandra equalled that score at home to Morecambe.

1 North – Penrith went top with a 4-0 beating of Carlisle United, Blackburn CSC also won again when putting six past Workington Reds, while Chorley DS are similarly goal-difference behind the leaders following a 3-2 success at Penwortham Town.

1 South – Warrington Wolves are new leaders after their 6-2 win at Mersey Valley and Chester sharing eight goals with Northwich Vixens. Elsewhere, Runcorn Linnets beat Altrincham 6-2.

SOUTHERN – Abingdon Town win away despite dismissal

Premier – Moneyfields hit hosts Winchester City Flyers for six, Abingdon United won 3-0 over Wycombe Wanderers to also record a third win from three. Abingdon Town took the points 3-1 at Woodley United, despite having Charlotte Comley sent off on 21 minutes.  Ascot United were 5-2 victors at Oxford City with four from Sarah Leonard.

Division 1 – AFC Stoneham lead the table after a 5-1 defeat of Eversley & California, maximum points also so far for AFC Bournemouth DS (4-2 winners over New Milton Town with an Alexis Bussell treble) and Woking who came through 2-1 at Milton United. Chichester City tied 2-2 with Bournemouth Sports.

SOUTH WEST – Pilgrims score 30

Premier – AFC St Austell beat Bishops Lydeard 3-0 with a Charlotte Whitmore hat-trick to take their winning start to three games, Sherborne Town did likewise 2-1 against Forest Green Rovers. There were big away wins for Marine Academy Plymouth (8-2 at Middlezoy Rovers, three for Samantha Metters), Torquay United (5-1 at Bideford, three from Helen Kukor) and Ilminster Town (4-0 at Royal Wootton Bassett Town).

1 North – Frampton Rangers won 3-0 at Oldland Abbotonians, Bristol Rovers also winning again 3-1 over Almondsbury. Weston Mendip’s Charlotte Suktem scored three times but in a 3-3 draw with Downend Flyers.

1 West – Plymouth Argyle U-23s had a massive 30-0 win over Ottery St Mary, Liskeard Athletic beat Feniton 3-1 and Helston Athletic versus Saltash United finished 3-3.

WEST MIDLANDS – Borough net late winner win Rugby derby 

Premier – Stourbridge claimed a third straight win 10-1 over Lye Town, Crusaders also hit ten at City of Stoke who replied twice. Kidderminster Harriers won 7-3 at Tamworth with three apiece by Rebecca Hall and Danielle Selmes, Lichfield City 2-0 at Sutton Coldfield Town thanks to a Laura Smith double. Coundon Court’s Jessica Sevellec got the sole goal in the game with Coventry Sphinx, who saw Dion Germaine red-carded. Worcester City and Redditch United drew one each,

1 North – AFC Telford have two wins from two following a 3-1 result at Port Vale, Jaime Duggan with two goals in the first 19 minutes. Wyrley won a nine-goal thriller against Walsall Wood, Rachel Cumberledge netting three.  Darlaston Town drew 4-4 with Shifnal Town, Sandwell 1-1 with Coventry City as goals were exchanged in the final quarter of an hour.

1 South – Rugby Borough won the derby at Rugby Town 2-1 with Michelle Oldfield scoring two minutes from the end.Sedgley & Gornal United’s Arshi Zahoor netted the only goal at Kingfisher, Knowle’s 4-0 win over Cookley Sports featured an Alice Belcher treble and Leamington Lions put six past Droitwich Spa.
