Women’s Regional Leagues: 18 September Round-Up

There was generally plenty of Women’s Regional League action on Sunday despite FA Cup and  County Cup commitments for many.

EASTERN 

1 South – Hutton made it two wins from three in the league’s only game on Sunday. One up at the break away to Grays Athletic, Abigail Fry scored twice in a 4-1 result.

EAST MIDLANDS 

Premier – Chesterfield and Notts County both continued their winning starts, the former 5-1 victors at Rotherham United, the latter taking the points 4-2 at Mansfield Town. Anstey Nomads and Basford United drew 3-3, Lincoln United hoit hosts Oughtibridge WM 6-1.

1 Central – Sherwood got both goals of the game at Mansfield Hosiery Mills,Dronfield Town defeated West Bridgford 4-1 despite a second-half equaliser, Nottingham Trent University’s Alice Rogers scored three of their five goals against Notts County Development.

1 South – Thrapston Town have won both game to date after beating Loughborough Foxes Vixens 4-1, aided by Amelia Boddington’s hat-trick, Roade shared eight goals with Northampton Town Development.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST 

Premier – Ebbsfleet United’s 2-0 result at Fulham kept them top, Millwall Lionesses sank Sutton United 5-1, Worthing’s two-goal Rebecca Bell helped them to a 4-2 victory over Enfield Town, Saltdean United edged a seven-goal thriller at Aylesford. Dartford won 4-1 at AFC Acorns and New London Lionesses versus Dulwich Hamlet finished one apiece.

1 North – Clapton are goal-difference behind leaders Dorking Wanderers following a 3-1 win at Whyteleafe, while Denham United defeated Dulwich Hamlet Reserves 2-1.

1 South – Ashford United have maximum points from games with their latest success coming 7-0 at Bexhill United. Bromley beat hosts Cray Valley 8-1 with four for Terri-Ann Warren, Eastbourne United edged ten-player Newhaven 2-1 after Chloe Evans was sent off.

NORTH EAST 

Premier – South Shields have won their opening three games, beating Blyth Town 4-0 in midweek. Blyth then let slip a 2-0 lead on Sunday, as Lauren Holmes got a late leveller for home side Hull United in a 2-2 tie. Jessica Ellison bagged both goals for Wallsend BC to earn a 2-1 win at Alnwick Town.

1 South – Handsworth substitute Danielle Pinder netted in a 2-1 result at Ossett United, their second win in as many games.

NORTH WEST

Premier – Cheadle Town Stingers took the top spot from Tranmere Rovers on goal-difference, with a 3-1 defeat of Fleetwood Town Wrens. Crewe Alexandra walloped hosts Wigan Athletic 8-0.

1 North – Haslingden moved into pole position with the only goal at Carlisle United, Accrington Stanley thrashed Morecambe 9-0 to go second and Blackpool put five past Chorley Development.

1 South – Runcorn Linnets sent Chester to a first loss with a 4-2 scoreline, Poulton Vics were 3-1 winners against Alder.

SOUTHERN 

Premier – Bournemouth Sports beat Winchester City Flyers 4-1, Lauren Brewer and Becky Miles each with a brace to make it back-to-back wins. Elsewhere, Oxford City won by the odd goal in five at Eastleigh.

1 North – Just one goal in two games as Sumayah Zayadi found the net for Caversham United at Carterton,  Kidlington and Long Crendon drawing a blank.

1 South – Badshot Lea have now won their first two games at this level, after Rebecca Munro scored the only goal at Selsey Development. Kaitlin Howard grabbed the decider as Woking defeated Chichester City 2-1.

SOUTH WEST 

Premier – Sherborne Town are the only side to have won their first two games after a 2-1 result at Royal Wootton Bassett Town. There were also 2-1 away victories for Warminster Town at Bishops Lydeard and Forest Green Rovers at Bristol Rovers. Liskeard Athletic won 5-2 against Ilminster Town, as did Torquay United over Poole Town.

1 East – AEK Boco’s Lucy Atkinson and Sasha Ferris shared the spoils of a 4-0 victory at Weymouth, as they added to their opening day win. Stockwood Wanderers substitute Rosie Bostock was on target in a 3-3 tie at Paulton Rovers.

1 North – Downend Flyers’ Bethany Pitman found the net five times in an 11-0 scoreline at Chipping Sodbury Town.

1 West – Feniton replaced Saltash United at the top when beating them 3-1.

WEST MIDLANDS 

Premier – Worcester City’s Bethan Dutton got the goal at Lye Town to maintain maximum points to date. There were also one-goal games as Kidderminster Harriers’ Macy Fox netted at Solihull Sporting and Shrewsbury Town saw off Lichfield City with a Madison Jones effort. Sutton Coldfield Town’s 5-0 defeat of Coundon Court featured a  Carly Aldred hat-trick, Burton Albion beat hosts Redditch United 5-1.

1 North – Shifnal Town’s Rebecca-Lee Bown scored four of their seven goals at Lichfield City Reserves, Walsall Ladies were 3-0 winners at Darlaston Town.

1 South – Both Knowle and Long Itchington won for the second time in two outings, the former 3-0 at Rugby Town, the latter 4-1 at Worcester City Development.
