Who will win the Nations League?

Spain vs Sweden

Spain are the reigning champions of the Nations League after winning the inaugural competition last season.

It comes as no surprise that the champs are once again favourites to win this year, and they will be out for revenge following a disappointing summer.

The current world champions were shocked in the Euro 2025 final as England won back to back championships.

Spain haven’t lost a competitive match since losing to England in February during the Nations League group stage.

While Spain look most likely to advance to the final, Sweden will certainly be no walkover.

Sweden were eliminated in the quarter-final at Euro 2025 and the way they lost to England was heartbreaking. Despite being 2-0 up with just 10 minutes to play, Sweden went on to draw with the Lionesses before getting eliminated on penalties.

This year’s semi-finals will be Sweden’s first trip to the knockouts and their lack of experience could cost them against the best in the world.

Germany vs France

The other semi-final is a bit harder to call, but Germany are just preferred to advance to the final.

Germany are also looking to make amends for their summer in Switzerland after they were knocked out by Spain in the semi-finals after beating France in the quarters.

The Germans are still ranked fifth in the FIFA world rankings and France will face a tough two legs before a potential second Nations League final.

France, are well versed in the Nations League having finished runner up to Spain in the inaugural tournament.

The team ranked sixth in the world were also knocked out of Euro 2025 at the quarter-final stage, with Germany edging the head to head after penalties.

With a rematch from Euro 2025 on the cards anything could happen in the Nations League knockouts, but France will be keen to get revenge for their summer’s shortcomings.
