Winning start for Emma Hayes as USWNT beat South Korea

USA were 4-0 winners over South Korea in the first of two friendlies, as new head coach Emma Hayes made a winning start.

Mallory Swanson opened the scoring on 34 minutes and Tierna Davidson headed home twice before Swanson also completed her brace.

The match had been part of a double-header on the day, as the US Women’s Deaf Team ran out 11-0 winners over Australia.

Brazil beat Jamaica 4-0, Adriana and Chantelle Swaby’s first-half goals added to my a couple from Marta.

Canada defeated Mexico 2-0, with both goals coming in the last 17 minutes. Adriana Leon broke the deadlock. before Cloé Lacasse added a late second.

Senegal pegged South Africa back in stoppage time for a 1-1 draw, Nthabiseng Majiya’s opener cancelled out by a penalty from Mbayang Sow.

Chile were 6-1 winners over Guatemala as Karen Araya contributed two goals, although her first brought an equaliser at the start of the second half.

Palestine’s Ahlam Nasr got the only goal of the game 10 minutes from time for a victory in Bahrain.

One goal also decided it, as Nicaragua edged Peru with a Yessenia Flores effort on half-time.

At the Caribbean Queens Tournament in Curaçao, the hosts played out a goalless draw with 0-0 Aruba.
