FA chief executive Mark Bullingham has addressed the contract situation of England manager Sarina Wiegman, after she guided the Lionesses to a second straight Women’s Euro trophy.

Wiegman and England overcame many adversities throughout the knockout phase to book their spot in the final against Spain.

Despite being underdogs, Wiegman guided the Lionesses to a penalty shootout win, to successfully defend the trophy they won for the first time in 2022.

Wiegman also won the competition with her native Netherlands back at Euro 2017.

When does Sarina Wiegman’s England contract end?

Sarina Wiegman is currently under contract with England until the end of the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

She will be determined to lead the nation to glory at the tournament in Brazil, after losing to Spain in the final of the 2023 tournament.

However, after reaching three consecutive major finals, England fans and players will be hoping that the FA extends Wiegman’s contract so they can together defend their Women’s Euros trophy again in 2029.

There will be domestic and international teams who would love to have Wiegman as their manager in the future following her success with both the Netherlands and England.
