#WEURO2021 Qualifiers: Record crowd for Republic of Ireland Women

Republic of Ireland edged Ukraine 3-2 in front of a record crowd of 5,328 at Tallaght Stadium in the UEFA Women’s Championship qualifiers.

Ireland opened the scoring on 25 minutes as Rianna Jarrett broke down the left her timely delivery was fired home by Katie McCabe.

Within the half-hour it was 2-0 as McCabe turned provider with a corner kick, Jarrett heading home for her first goal for Ireland.

Ukraine were gifted a way back into the game when Marie Hourihan failed to hold onto a shot and lyubov Shmatko turned in the rebound.

Olha Ovdiychuk then took advantage of some defensive hesitancy to wipe out the hosts’ advantage.

After the break, Louise Quinn saw her strike tipped round the post by Kateryna Sansom but the Irish were ahead on 53 minutes, Denise O’Sullivan pressuring Shmatko into conceding an own-goal.

Substitute Nadia Kunina almost levelled in injury time but Hourihan produce a stunning one handed save.
