#WEURO2021 Qualifiers: Germany net ten

More UEFA Women’s Championship qualifiers were played from Saturday to Monday and included a double-figure victory for Germany.

Alexandra Popp pounced for a first-half hat-trick as Germany began their campaign by thrashing Montenegro 10-0 in front of a 6,275 crowd on Saturday lunchtime. Klara Bühl bagged a brace and the other five scorers were Svenja Huth, Sara Doorsoun-Khajeh, Turid Knaak and substitutes Lea Schüller and Linda Dallmann.

Sunday’s tie Serbia scored three second-half goals in a 3-0 victory away to Kazakhstan, Milica Mijatovic made the breakthrough, with Allegro Poljak and Tijana Matic sealing the points with late strikes.

Iceland edged Slovakia 1-0 on Monday, Elín Jensen’s strike midway through the second-half the difference.

Finland were 3-0 winners in Albania, where Linda Sällström was twice on target, Heidi Kollanen the other scorer.

Tonight brings the last batch of qualifiers until early October and they include a clash between Wales and Northern Ireland at Newport County FC (live on BBC Red Button / BBC Sport Website at 7.05pm), while Republic of Ireland host Montenegro at Tallaght Stadium.
