West Ham United have signed Denmark international striker Amalie Thestrup on loan from PSV Eindhoven until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old spent a season with Liverpool, scoring four goals in 21 appearances, joining PSV in the summer of 2021 and helping the Dutch side to a third-place finish in the Eredivisie last campaign.

Thestrup told whufc.com“It feels amazing to join West Ham United. I’m really excited to be here, meet the girls and the staff and to get started here in London.

“When joining the club on loan became an opportunity, it was really a no-brainer for me to make the move here. It’s a well established club in the Barclays Women’s Super League, which is probably the best league in the world at the moment.”

Manager Paul Konchesky said: “Amalie will bring a non-stop work ethic on and off the pitch. She will make defenders know they have been in a game with her work rate and never-say-die attitude and I’m hoping her instinct in the box will give us another edge in matches.

“She also can play anywhere along the frontline which gives us a lot of options up there, and is something we have been missing.”
