West Ham United have confirmed the signing of France international Estelle Cascarino on loan from Serie A side Juventus until the end of the season.

The defender becomes new head coach Rita Guarino’s first signing of the January transfer window.

It follows reports of the club’s interest in Cascarino over the last weeks.

Cascarino will wear the No 28 shirt for the Hammers.

In her time at Juventus, she has made 49 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons, helping them win the league title and Coppa Italia trophy last season, as well as the 2023-24 Supercoppa Italiana.

It will be a return to the Barclays Women’s Super League for the 28-year-old following a loan spell at Manchester United in 2023. She has also played for Lyon, Paris FC, Bordeaux, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Cascarino has 18 senior international caps to her name, and represented her country at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Estelle Cascarino: This is the best league in the world

In quotes shared with the media, Cascarino said: “I’m really pleased to be joining West Ham United.

“I know that West Ham is a big club in England and I’m excited to be part of this project.

“I’m a technical player who is aggressive in my defending. I’m here to bring my leadership and experience to help the team on and off the pitch.

“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far in my career and I’m looking forward to this next chapter at West Ham, in the best league in the world.”

And Guarino added: “We are delighted that Estelle has joined the club.

“Estelle is a left-footed defender who has excellent technical ability. She reads the game well, is calm on the ball and her range of passing will suit our style of play.

“Estelle is a proven winner, and her experience and knowledge of the game will be a real asset to the team moving into the second half of the 2025-26 season.”
