Saturday’s women’s international matches included a 2-0 win for France over Switzerland at the Stade Saint-Symphorien in Metz.

Wendie Renard got on the end of a 12th-minute free kick into the box, to head back across goal and inside the far post.

Switzerland’s Coumba Sow forced a save from Pauline Peyraud-Magnin, while Kadidiatou Diani’s shot on the turn was pushed away by Gaëlle Thalmann.

The lead was doubled in the last 10 minutes, substitute Ève Périsset with the cross to the far post, where Perle Morroni arrived late to stab home.

Mexico played for the first time in nearly a year, as they hosted Costa Rica at the Estadio Azteca.

Priscila Chinchilla was close to an early goal for the visitors but Rebeca Bernal headed in a Nicole Perez corner kick past the keeper.

Katty Martinez doubled the advantage when found by a Kenti Robles header and a diving header by Stephany Mayor made it 3-0 shortly after the interval.

Fabiola Villalobos nodded in from a set-piece to give Las Ticas a consolation.
