Arsenal won through to the 2019/20 Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi finals after defeating Tottenham Hotspur with four goals in the last 20 minutes.

Having eventually seen off their hard-working local rivals, the Gunners will travel to Leicester City or Manchester City on Thursday 1st October.

Spurs had held the Gunners to a goalless first half and it needed Manuela Zinsberger to tip over a dangerous curling cross from Alanna Kennedy.

Arsenal were first to threaten when Caitlin Foord’s header rattled the crossbar, Jordan Nobbs later had a goal-bound effort blocked, while Vivianne Miedema fired across the goalmouth.

Katie McCabe had a goal ruled out for a foul early in the second-half, after which Kennedy put a free header wide at the other end.

McCabe whistled an effort narrowly wide via a free-kick just outside the box as the Gunners upped the pressure.

The breakthrough cam 18 minutes from time, Spurs paying the price for conceding possession as Nobbs chipped Becky Spencer from distance.

Moments later and it was 2-0, Lisa Evans finishing off from Miedema’s pass.

Evans doubled her tally late on to ensure her side’s progress, although Lucy Quinn missed a clear chance for a consolation.

From a fine Beth Mead cross, Evans completed her treble.
