Wales beat hosts Portugal in their final match of the UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship Elite Round.
Ella Powell replaced Lily Woodham after an injury in the warm-up and Wales began encouragingly with efforts by Bronwen Thomas and Alice Griffiths forcing saves from goalkeeper Carolina Dias.
Inês Queiroga’s free kick was kept out by Olivia Clark, before a long-range shot from Powell was saved at the other end.
The only goal arrived via a set piece 3 minutes after the restart, Amina Vine slotting the ball into the corner of the net.
Griffiths was later denied from distance and Cassia Pike’s run resulted in another stop by Dias.
The result meant Wales finished third in Group 6.
