Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck is the latest Manchester City player to be ruled out of the UEFA Women’s Champions League tie at Real Madrid.
Although Roebuck’s absence is expected to be very brief, Lucy Bronze and Ellen White are both sidelined with injury, while Chloe Kelly could be missing until the new year.
Manager Gareth Taylor explained in the pre-match press conference: “Roebuck’s left in Manchester. That’s disappointing for Ellie but I think it’s a minor issue and one that won’t keep her out for too long.
“It was tight for this game so hopefully, there’s no issue regarding the FA WSL game [against Everton] coming up and we’re hoping to get her back for the second leg. It’s a shame because it’s nothing too severe.”
Bronze has had surgery and is optimistic of a quick return, while White has already been back on the pitch with the squad before they flew to Spain.
Tuesday’s Round 2 1st Leg tie kicks off at 8pm UK time, while Arsenal host Slavia Prague at Meadow Park (7.30pm) and on Wednesday, Glasgow City visit Servette with the match live on BBC ALBA from 6.05pm.
