Glasgow City drew their UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 2 1st Leg tie in Servette after Clare Shine levelled on the volley.

Former Reading and Bristol Academy forward Jade Boho Sayo had given the Swiss side the lead early in the second half, meeting a free kick with a backward header that dropped inside Lee Alexander’s far post.

Janine Van Wyk’s long-range effort was tipped over the bar by Inês Pereira and at the other end, Alexander pushed away a Daina Bourma strike.

Midway through the second half, Clare Walsh hit a long ball down the middle and Shine met it with a sweetly-timed volley to give Pereira no chance.

The second leg in on Wednesday 8 September at Broadwood Stadium, kick-off 3.15pm.

Wednesday’s 1st leg results:

VfL Wolfsburg 3-2 Bordeaux
ŽNK Osijek 1-1 Breidablik
AC Sparta Praha 0-1 HB Køge
Vålerenga 1-3 BK Häcken
Vllaznia 0-2 Juventus
Servette 1-1 Glasgow City
Levante 1-2 Lyon

All the goals came in the last ten minutes as Lyon won at Levante. Mallard and Morroni scored for the French side, before Crivelari Anselmo replied.

Filippa Angeldal’s first-half brace set Häcken on the road to victory at Vålerenga, where Stina Blackstenius made it 3-0 before Rikke Madsen’s consolation.

Three goals in a six-minute spell saw Wolfsburg lead Bordeaux 2-1 on the way to a 3-2 win. Ewa Pajor’s opener was quickly cancelled out by Katja Snoeijs but Jill Roord soon restored the advantage. Her former Arsenal team-mate Dominique Janssen later made it 3-1 and Mickaella Cardia hit back to set up a tense return leg in France.
