The USA had to twice come from behind to beat Mexico 3-2 in the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship final.
The tournament, which had begun in Nicaragua, was halted due to civil unrest but later resumed in Florida.
Nicole Perez and Nayeli Diaz both put the Mexicans ahead in the final but Hannah Bebar and Sunshine Fontes swiftly equalised, before Maya Doms struck a late winner.
Canada edged Haiti 2-1 to take the federation’s third slot at the U-17 World Cup in Uruguay this November.
Goals by Jordyn Huitema and Andersen Williams proved enough to win the third place play off, as Haiti only managed one goal back through Melchie Dumornay.
