England overcame a difficult start to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 semi-final before dismissing Sweden 4-0 at a sold-out Bramall Lane.
Mary Earps denied both Sofia Jakobsson and Stina Blackstenius in the first ten minutes, the latter also heading onto the bar.
England struck first though in the 34th minute, Beth Mead bringing Lucy Bronze’s cross under control and firing home on the turn.
After the break Bronze headed in a second from Mead’s corner, before Earps tipped a close-range Blackstenius effort over the crossbar.
Lauren Hemp hit the bar and Alessia Russo came off the bench to make it 3-0 with an outrageous backheel through the keeper’s legs, with Fran Kirby’s chip then just enough to beat Hedvig Lindahl and complete the scoring.
The Lionesses will now play either Germany or France in the final at Wembley on Sunday 31 July.
