Twente vs Chelsea preview
After winning a domestic treble last season, Chelsea will be hoping this is the season they win their first Women’s Champions League.
The Blues suffered just three defeats in the entirety of the 2024-25 season across all competitions.
Two of which came in the semi-finals of the Champions League, where Barcelona beat Sonia Bompastor’s side 4-1 both home and away.
Barcelona then went on to lose to Arsenal in the final, something which would have disappointed Chelsea given they comfortably beat the Gunners to the Women’s Super League title.
Chelsea have picked up where they left off domestically this season, winning four out of their opening five league games.
Their only dropped points came in Friday’s 1-1 draw away at Manchester United.
The Blues open their Champions League campaign against a Twente side who have won all four of their domestic league games, scoring 16 goals in the process.
Chelsea can take motivation from last season, where they beat Twente by an aggregate score of 9-2 over their two group stage games.
An AI simulation of the Women’s Champions League predicts Chelsea to win this match and even reach the final – losing to Barcelona.
Bompastor though will be hoping that Chelsea can go all the way this season.

Chelsea team news
The big news for Chelsea since their last fixture is the new contract for midfielder Sjoeke Nusken.
The German international will be pushing for a start after coming off the bench against Manchester United.
Also pushing for starts includes the likes of Guru Reiten, Alyssa Thompson and Sam Kerr.
There is no fresh injury concerns for the Blues but they will still likely be without Lucy Bronze, Lauren James and Niamh Charles.
However, there was some positive news ahead of the trip to Manchester United, after Bompastor revealed the trio were back in training.
It would be unlikely for the trio to be rushed back into action on Wednesday night.
Predicted lineups
Twente: Lemey; Vliek, Knol, Carleer, Tuin; Roord, Van Ginkel, Groenewegen; Elberink, Ravensbergen, Proost
Chelsea: Hampton; Carpenter, Bjorn, Bright, Baltimore; Nusken, Walsh; Reiten, Kaptein, Thompson; Beever-Jones
Twente vs Chelsea Prediction
Chelsea and Twente have both enjoyed excellent starts to their domestic campaigns.
Twente will offer some attacking threat as shown by the fact they are averaging four goals per game across the start of the Eredivisie campaign.
However, as shown by Chelsea’s heavy wins last year, Bompastor’s side will have too much for their Dutch opposition.
Prediction: Twente 0-3 Chelsea
