Toone’s instant reply stuns Czechs

Ella Toone netted England U-19s’ stoppage-time winner.

England edged Czech Republic in a seven-goal thriller at the La Manga Ten Nation U-19 Tournament on Sunday 4th March, letting a 3-1 lead slip before Ella Toone hit a very late winner.

Hannah Cain’s early goal was cancelled out by Aneta Malatová but Rebecca Rayner restored the Young Lionesses’ lead by the interval.

Bridget Galloway gave England a two-goal cushion on 74 minutes, nevertheless, a dramatic conclusion was still to follow.

Andrea Stašková reduced the arrears and even though Michaela Dubcová levelled 3 minutes into stoppage-time, Toone then swiftly netted England’s winner.

The Young Lionesses next play France on Tuesday afternoon.

Roux gets two as France draw

France led Sweden 1-0 at half-time through a Jessy Danielle Roux penalty in the first of Sunday’s five ties.

The Swedes turned the game in their favour with two second-half goals from Linnea Svensson and Alexandra Jonasson but Roux completed a brace to draw the game.

Swiss see red as Danes net three

Denmark defeated Switzerland 3-0, who had Julia Schassberger sent off 5 minutes before half-time.

The Danes scored just 2 minutes in through Maria Hovmark and added two more when the Swiss were down to ten players.

Cecilie Johansen doubled the lead 6 minutes after the restart and Caroline Pleidrup got the third with a third of the game still to go.

Nautnes earns Norway draw

Italy went in front against Norway but had to settle for a 1-1 draw after a last-minute leveller.

Alice Regazzoli broke the deadlock from the penalty spot with 24 minutes remaining. only for Emilie Nautnes to reply 3 minutes into added time.

Dutch thrash USA

Ashleigh Weerden was on target to give the Netherlands a 19th-minute advantage over the USA and that’s how the scores stayed until late in the half, when Joelle Smits popped up with a second for the Dutch.

Smits had only just begun though and scored three more times after the interval, with Kayleigh van Dooren also getting a goal.
