Celtic lifted the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup in front of a domestic cup record crowd of 3,645 at Firhill.

Charlie Wellings had an early effort touched onto the post by City keeper Lee Alexander but on 24 minutes Caitlin Hayes gave them the lead with a powerful header from Sarah Harkes free kick.

Alexander prevented Celtic doubling their lead twice after the break, denying Harkes and later smothering a chance for Jacynta Galabadaarachchi.

Ode Fulutudilu saw her shot tipped away by Celtic keeper Rachael Johnstone and Glasgow City came closest to an equaliser when Claire Walsh’s header rattled the crossbar with 15 minutes left to play.
