Helen Ward was the recipient of the SSE Women’s FA Cup Player of the 3rd Round award, the Welsh international having scored four goals in Watford’s 7-2 win over Middlesbrough.
The forward scored four times as the Golden Girls set up an away tie at Manchester City Women in the fourth round.
“It was a great team performance at Middlesbrough and while it’s an honour to be named Player of the Round, I feel like it could have gone to any one of my team-mates,” Ward told Sportsbeat.
“I love playing for this badge and I’m hoping to help push us up the ladder in the right direction.”
Head Coach Armand Kavaja understandably is full of praise for both his captain’s performance and her influence around the club.
“I say this to the players a lot, especially the younger ones, they are very lucky to have Helen around,” said Kavaja.
“She leads by example in a rare way – she’s not the most vocal. That’s not her personality and I don’t want to push her to be, but she measures her words and all the girls listen.
“Being named Player of the Round is a very well-deserved award for her, she was superb at Middlesbrough and I think she’ll continue to be important for us going forward.”
