Spurs secured their Barclays Women’s Super League status with a 4-1 victory over basement side Reading at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Royals’ Grace Moloney saved from Rosella Ayane after a smart one-two with Drew Spence, at the other end Sanne Troelsgaard’s header was turned round the post by the feet of Becky Spencer.

Tottenham took the lead via a corner, with Molly Bartrip delivering to the back post for Beth England to head home.

England also had a hand in the second before the break, feeding Eveliina Summanen who set up Celin Bizet to net.

When an Easther Mayi Kith backpass after the hour mark was intercepted by England, she swivelled to fire Spurs three up into an empty net.

Jade Moore forced a save from Spencer straight after, but it was 4-0 when Kit Graham chased down Bartrip’s long ball.

Reading got a consolation as Justine Vanhaevermaet nodded in Emma Mukandi’s corner.

With this result, any escape for the Royals would have to include a win over Chelsea on the final day.
