Spain defeated the Netherlands 1-0 in a women’s friendly international at Marbella on Friday 9 April.

Patricia Guijarro got the only goal of the game in the 31st minute but the hosts had many more opportunities.

Not only did they dominate possession but had 20 shots compared with a single late chance for Shanice van de Sanden.

Sari van Veenendaal made some excellent saves but she was beaten by Guijarro’s header from a corner.

Guijarro nearly netted at the wrong end off a Dominique Janssen delivery but keeper Sandra Paños kept the ball out.

When Vivianne Miedema set up Van de Sanden for a free header two minutes from time, it was nodded wide.
