Southampton FC Women have signed goalkeeper Benedicte Haaland following her recent departure from Bristol City.

The 25-year-old had been capped by Norway at youth level, played in her country’s Toppserien followed by spells in the Swiss, Icelandic, Italian, Scottish and English top flights.

Haaland told southamptonfc.com: “I’m very excited, I’ve heard great things about the club and it’s very good to be here.” Haaland shared.

I’ve been following Southampton and have seen how quickly they’ve done well in the last few years. It’s definitely something I wanted to be a part of.

Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale added: “We’re really pleased to welcome Benedicte to the club, she’ll add some further experience to our goalkeeping unit and help provide real competition for Kayla and Beth.”
