Sheffield United Women’s defender Ocean Rolandsen has signed a permanent contract with the club after joining on a short-term deal in January.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell since arriving from Watford, starting all nine games the club has played since joining, with Neil Redfearn’s side going unbeaten in eight of them, with Rolandsen a mainstay.
The former Chelsea Academy graduate previously represented London Bees as well as the Hornets before swapping south for north in January after the FA Women’s National League was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Rolandsen has been a solid presence both offensively and defensively in the Blades side and got her first assist against Middlesbrough in last month’s Vitality FA Women’s Cup tie.
Head coach, Neil Redfearn, said: “Ocean’s been fantastic since she came in and we’re delighted to keep her. I was aware of her from my time at the Belles, she’s got great pedigree coming through at Chelsea and the England youth teams and when you’ve got that kind of quality, you never really lose it. You can some hidden gems in the women’s game, she’s got some belief now and she’s shown that in her performances since arriving.
Rolandsen added: “I’m super excited. I’ve enjoyed my time here, everyone’s made me feel super comfortable and I just enjoy playing my football here, so I’m looking forward to coming back next season.
