Sheffield United have signed experienced midfielder Jade Bailey after a short spell with London City Lionesses.
The 28-year-old has penned a deal with the Blades ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United and brings further vital experience and quality, having played for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as the Jamaica national team.
The defensive midfielder started her career with the Gunners and won back-to-back FA Cups as a teenager, starting the latter final in 2014, before moving across London to Chelsea in 2016 where she spent the next four years of her career.
Bailey then joined Liverpool in and was part of the team which won the Barclays Women’s Championship in 2022, before an injury put her out of the game until returning returned with the Lionesses in the second-tier last season.
Bailey said: “I’m really happy to be here. It came quite quickly, so I’m just ready to get going and start playing for the team.
“It’s been good. I know a few of the girls already so that’s made things easier when you know a few familiar faces.”
Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “Jade brings both quality and experience in a key area of the field we’ve been looking to fill. She’s played for some of the biggest clubs in the country, is more than proven at this level and we’re really pleased to have brought her into the squad as we continue to build into the new season.”
