Sheffield United’s attacking midfielder Bex Rayner has signed a new contract ahead of the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Championship season.
Rayner originally joined the Blades in 2018 and became the club’s all-time leader for assists last season as she surpassed the 20-mark.
The 23-year-old said: “I’m really happy. I’ve been here a while now, it feels like my home, playing at Bramall Lane and the atmosphere which built up last year and ending the season on a high, going full-time is the next step we needed and hopefully we can push on.”
Head coach Jonathan Morgan said: “From last season’s squad Bex was someone I spoke to a lot over the off-season to give her assurances about the direction of the club, because she’s someone who for me provides a lot more than people realise.
“Everyone sees her as a possession player, but actually her out of possession stats are some of the highest in the league and people don’t give her enough credit for that. I wanted to keep her because she’s someone we can build this team around, her creativity and vision is second to none.”
