England Women had a narrow win over Japan to register their first points at the SheBelieves Cup in America.

The first half was goalless although both sides went close, with Hina Sugita hitting the post and Ellie Roebuck turning another effort round the upright, while Bethany England had a couple of good chances, Sakiko Ikeda saving one well.

The deadlock was broken 8 minutes from the end as two England substitutes combined, Toni Duggan winning the ball and instantly setting up Ellen White to poke home.

Duggan forced a save moments later but the Lionesses had done enough to get off the mark at the tournament.

England finish up against Spain on Wednesday, 9:15pm (UK time) live on BBC Four and BBC Sport Website.
