Second Goalless Draw For Shelbourne Ladies

Champions League Qualifying Group 4 hosts Linfield suffered a second successive defeat, beaten 4-1 by Medyk Konin, while Shelbourne drew 0-0 again when held by PK-35 Vantaa.

Paulina Dudek took only 8 minutes to open the scoring for Konin at Seaview in Belfast, Lynch Casidee doubling the lead on 26 minutes, with Anna Gawronska making it 3-0 before the break.

Megan Bell came off the bench to pull a goal back but then Konin substitute Brittany Kindzierski also scored for the Polish side.

FAI WNL champions Shelbourne played Finland’s PK-35 Vantaa in the evening game but again had to settle for a goalless draw.

Siobhán Killeen sent a shot over the bar early on and Gloria Douglas was denied by keeper Pauliina Tähtinen just before half-time.

Vantaa had a threatening spell following the interval and Amanda McQuillan had to be at her best in the Shels’ net to keep them out.

Douglas had claims for a penalty ignored and soon after Alex Kavanagh hit the woodwork but the breakthrough would not come.

Monday will see the two Irish champions go head to head in the final group games, with a 4pm kick-off at Seaview.
