ScottishPower Women’s Premier League top six beat bottom half dozen

Celtic hit double figures but remain a point behind ScottishPower Women’s Premier League leaders Rangers after all the top six sides won.

Rangers sank Montrose 7-0, Kirsty Howat scoring twice, Rachel Rowe and Sarah Ewens getting their first goals for the club, with Tessel Middag, Lizzie Arnot and Rio Hardy also finding the net.

Celtic hit Aberdeen for six by half-time and went one better in the second period. There were hat-tricks for Murphy Agnew and Amy Gallacher, Natalie Ross netted twice and singles for Collette Cavanagh, Paula Partido Durán, Chloe Craig, Clare Goldie and Caitlyn Hayes.

Lauren Davidson and Hayley Lauder put Glasgow City two up at Dundee United but the hosts hit back through Jade Wilson just before the break. Lauder’s second on 88 minutes eventually ensured all three points for the visitors.

Partick Thistle came from behind to win 4-2 at Motherwell, Carla Boyce’s penalty replied to with Imogen Longcake’s first-half double. Rachel Donaldson and Demi Falconer extended the lead, with Kayla Jardine pulling one back.

Hearts hit Hamilton for six, Georgia Timms and Katie Lockwood scoring early on but Clark responded for Accies. Lockwood got two more before the break and her fourth after the restart, with Aimee Anderson the hosts’ other scorer.

Hibernian went behind in the derby at Spartans but emerged 4-1 winners. Caley Gibb was first on the scoresheet, Leah Eddie headed Hibs level and Jorian Baucom volleyed them in front by half time. Abbie Ferguson’s solo effort and one from Ellis Notley sealed the win.

Queen’s Park went seven points clear at the top with a 4-1 defeat of Stirling University, Ellie Kane continuing her record of scoring in every league game this season with a brace and also two assists.

Boroughmuir Thistle stay two points short of third-placed Livingston after the pair drew 1-1. Beth MacLeod giving them the lead but Ashley Elizabeth equalising in the second half.

Glasgow Women got out of the relegation play-off spot with a draw at Kilmarnock, Morgan Anderson quickly cancelling out the opener from Killie’s Dionne Brown.
