Second-placed Celtic won at Motherwell, where Caitlin Hayes headed home a first-half corner and Amy Gallacher got the second from a Paula Partido pass.

Glasgow City hit Hamilton for six, Emily Whelan scoring in either half and the rest of the goals coming after the break from Aleigh Gambone, Lauren Davidson, Wilma Forsblom and Cori Sullivan.

Partick Thistle’s single-goal success at Spartans lifted them above Hearts into fifth spot. The  breakthrough came close to the hour mark, as Amy Bulloch’s free kick was head in by Carla Boyce.

Aberdeen had to come from behind to beat Montrose, Holly Daniel’s opener cancelled out by Eilidh Shore before Francesca Ogilvie fired in an 87th-minute winner.
