The SWPL confirms the first of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League matches selected for broadcast in the post-split phase.
Sky Sports will broadcast the Sky Sports Cup Final on Saturday 22 March as Hibernian and Rangers go head-to-head at Fir Park. The two sides have played out two close matches already this season in the league and with the teams sitting 2nd and 3rd respectively, the Final promises to be another great spectacle.
BBC ALBA’s first selection is the top of the table clash between Glasgow City and Hibernian. Traditional long-term rivals in the SWPL, both sides are going into this match equal on points and will be looking to pull away and put down a marker at this early stage in the split. In the first two fixtures between the clubs earlier this season, Glasgow City recorded a 3-0 win at home over the Leith side, before Hibernian sealed a 3-1 victory at the end of January at Meadowbank.
BBC ALBA have also selected Celtic v Glasgow City and Rangers v Hearts. Every match at this stage of the season is vital, and clashes between 1st and 4th under the lights on Friday 28 March and between third and fifth at Ibrox Stadium on Sunday 30th March will provide a dramatic backdrop to underline this.
BBC Sport Scotland have selected what promises to be a hotly contested match between Hearts and Celtic on Sunday 16 March. The Jambos recorded a well-earned 1-0 victory over the Glasgow side in the first meeting between the teams this season, while Celtic will be looking to emulate the 4-0 victory over Hearts in late-January. Both sides will be looking to use this game to reignite their respective title challenges at this critical stage of the season.

Fiona McIntyre, SWPL Managing Director, said: “Following the announcement of the post-split fixtures, we are delighted to confirm the first of the live broadcast matches for this season’s split phase which promises to be a compelling introduction to the most dramatic conclusion of a season to date. These exciting first few rounds of fixtures in the split will begin to shape the table for the season run-in and I am sure teams at both ends of the table will be vying to put early markers down in these upcoming matches.
“Visibility remains of vital importance and today’s announcement highlights the continued commitment of our broadcast partners, the increasing interest in the SWPL, and the excitement generated by the closing stages of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League season.
“We encourage fans to get out to as many games as possible or to tune in to the action on Sky Sports, BBC ALBA and BBC Sport Scotland.”
